15 days in Myanmar Day 01 : Arrival in Yangon, half-day city tour
Your unforgettable 15 days in Myanmar commences in Yangon.
Based on your arrival time, have a city tour to explore top attractions in Yangon. Specifically, you visit the Shwedagon Pagoda which is the most sacred and impressive Buddhist site in Myanmar, one of wonders of religious world. Then you have chance to admire 70-meter long Reclining Buddha, one of world’s largest Buddhist image in Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda. National Museum is another stop. After this museum tour, you are expected to gain greater knowledge and understanding of Burmese art, history and culture. By the end of the day, you stroll through the city center to admire its precious colonial buildings.

Greet the morning by wandering through Bogyoke (formerly Scott) Market which has over 200 shops and largest selection of Myanmar handicrafts and souvenirs. You then marvel at great exhibits of precious Burmese gemstones at Gems Museum. Also, get a chance of mingling with the vibrant and colorful life of locals in Yangon by taking a ‘circular train’. In the afternoon, get on a boat across Yangon River to the small village Dalah. Here enjoy exciting experiences riding in rickshaws and visiting a candle factory. Back to the downtown in late afternoon, walk along the beautiful park of Kandawgyi lake, stop on the wooden bridge over the south of lake edge.

15 days in Myanmar Day 03 : Yangon – Golden Rock
Departure for Kyaiktiyo located 200 km south of Yangon, in the Mon state. You will enjoy driving through Burmese countryside and admire the peaceful landscapes. On arrival, you have to take a truck along a winding road (about 1 hour to 1,5 hour) to go to the top and then climb to the Golden Rock by a narrow and winding path used by pilgrims. Situated at 1000 meters, this huge rock is covered with gold and has a small stupa at the top, where the Buddha’s hair relic is enshrined. It is a well-known pilgrimage site for Burmese Buddhists.

Morning transfer back to Yangon, make a stop at Bago. Originally located at the edge of the eponymous river, Bago has been the capital of the Mon kingdom for centuries and has undergone many vicissitudes. Visit the imposing Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the highest pagoda in Myanmar, and the large reclining Buddha Shwethalyaung which dates back to the 10th century. Stroll through the streets and discover the weaving workshops. Relax and move on the route back to Yangon.

15 days in Myanmar-royal palace Day 05 : Flight Yangon/Mandalay – city tour
Transfer to the airport for the morning flight to Mandalay, the cultural capital of Myanmar. First discovery of the last royal city before the arrival of the British: the Royal Palace, the residence of King Mindon and his wives; the Shwenandaw Monastery, the most significant building in the history of Mandalay with sophisticated teak wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda, the largest book in the world with its 729 carved marble headstones, each stone slab inside a small white stupa. Drop by Mahamuni Pagoda well known with the revered 4 meter high gilded Buddha image.

Morning tour to Mandalay Jade Market, then stop at a gold-leaf hammering workshop before taking a boat to Mingun. Here you visit the largest bell in the world, Hsinbyume Paya and the unfinished Mingun Paya. then move to Sagaing. Climb up the highest hill where the U Ponya pagoda is located to get the remarkable panorama view of hundreds of pagodas and monasteries perched on the hills bordering the Irrawaddy. Late afternoon, transfer to Amarapura, walk on the U Bein Bridge, the world’s oldest and longest teak footbridge across Taungthaman Lake to watch magnificent sunset.

15 days in Myanmar-monywa Day 07 : Mandalay – Monywa
Road to Monywa northwest of Mandalay. Upon arrival, visit Thanbuddhay Pagoda housing more than 500,000 sculptures, relics and other sacred objects. Then visit the picturesque Bodi Tataung site where there are over ten thousand Buddha statues, one of them is the second tallest statue of Buddha in the world. There is also a gigantic reclining Buddha in front of it. Boat trip to the fascinating caves of Po Win Taung that were probably inhabited since the pre-human period in Myanmar. These caves are richly decorated with wall paintings and several antique statues of Buddha. End of the day, rickshaw ride in the city center.

15 days in Myanmar-pakokku Day 08 : Monywa – Pakokku – Bagan
Departure for Pakokku which is a small town in the Magway region well-known for the production of cheroot and thanaka. Harvested tobacco is often used to create traditional cigars which are known as cheroots. You will visit a cheroot manufacturing and a local market where they sell thanaka (yellow-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark which serves as a basic beauty product for Burmese women and children). From Pakokku, board the Mandalay to Bagan boat downstream the Irrawaddy River, enjoy appealing view of riverbanks. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and end of the day free.

Day dedicated to the discovery of Bagan, the most impressive archaeological site in Asia. About forty kilometers from the left bank of the legendary Irrawaddy River, over 2000 temples, pagodas and stupas of all sizes and shapes emerge here and there, out of sight. Visit the site in a horse-drawn carriage, and among others, the famous temples of Ananda and Thatbyinnyu which dominates the other temples of Bagan as well as some important temples of the square. By late afternoon,Shwesandaw Temple is the perfect place to contemplate the breathtaking view of thousands stupas showered in the sunset.

Refresh this day by morning visit to the colorful and lively Nyaung Oo market, a whirlwind of colours from fresh fruits and vegetables to local handicrafts. Take a glimpse of the daily life of local people. Then visit the traditional villages of Min Nan Thu and Phwa Saw, specialized in making oxcart-wheels and lacquer ware. Here, observe how local artisans make these famous crafts, you could possibly make some lacquer by yourself as souvenirs for the memorable trip. Late afternoon, embark on a boat  tour to enjoy the sunset.

Transfer to Mount Popa 50 km southeast of Bagan, an important pilgrimage site, well known as the cradle of Nats (Burmese spirits which still exert great power with local people). Stop-over in a garden of toddy palms where you will discover the manufacture of sweets and fruit-based alcoholic beverages. Upon arrival, climb 777 steps leading to the monastery on top of the hill. From there you will have a stunning view of the surrounding plains of the Bagan area.  Set off the road to Kalaw across the vast dry plains of Myanmar to the high hills of Shan Plateau.

15 days in Myanmar-Kalaw Day 12 : Kalaw trekking – War Gyi Myaung
A day dedicated to trekking in Myanmar‘s best route – Kalaw. Kalaw trekking will show you the daily life and authentic culture of Shan people. After breakfast at hotel, transfer by car to Tha Yet Pu. This one-hour drive will take you in more scenic terrain. The morning’s walk is mostly flat with the first hour taking you to Kan Par Ni village. After a short break, continue walking for another hour on flat ground to lovely village of Su Pan Inn.
From here,continue with 30-minute flat trek to Chaung Char village. At this point the path makes a steep climb to War Gyi Myaung. The challenging 2-hour walking is worth when you arrive in the village. Relax and enjoy the peaceful setting, taking a short stroll around to learn more about the local lifestyles. Experience a good night of sleep at a homestay or monastery.
15 days in Myanmar-kalaw trekking Day 13 : War Gyi Myaung – Khaung Daing – Inle Lake
Wake up and welcome this morning by the peaceful vibe of the village and observe the village’s morning activities as they prepare for a day of farming or trading. Have breakfast before setting off for a morning trek to Inle Lake. One-hour descent to Kyauk Nget village, stop for a cup of tea and you will have another opportunity to learn about the people living in the hills around Inle Lake. Continue down to the lake’s shores, arrive at Khaung Daing around midday, free time for bathing at Khaung Daing hot spring to enjoy some rests inside pools at the site. Transfer by car to Inle Lake, a gem of Shan State. Overnight at hotel in Inle.

Day dedicated to explore Inle Lake, a stunning watery world in Shan state. Its name means “lake of 4 villages” is home to Inthas people that built villages on stilts on the water. You will take part in a boat trip through charming traditional villages and lush floating gardens, soak up the atmosphere as well as explore the authentic life activities of the local including the unique technique of one-leg rowing and methods of growing early crops (including tomatoes, lettuces, pumpkins).
